A bookstore can not just sell books these days; book shops compete with each other by offering shopping deals and bonus content, such as podcasts by authors, free ebooks, and exclusive stories. Barnes and Noble offers Nook and Nookcolor owners little ebook surprises called "More in Store." These are books that can be downloaded for free while using a Nook in Barnes and Noble. On December 1, 2010, B&N announced their More in Store exclusive content for December, 2010.

December 5, 2010: Dean Koontz and Joan Johnston

On Sunday, December 5, 2010, Nook users can download content from two authors. Horror writer Dean Koontz has written an essay about why his books are so suspenseful and scary, and Barnes and Noble is offering this essay to their Nook customers. "Why I Shout at the Computer Screen" by Dean Koontz will focus on the characters in his stories.

Joan Johnston is a romance writer who has started a series about the Benedict Brothers. Her Barnes and Noble essay is called "Escape with Joan Johnston to a Castle in Kent by Joan Johnston," and it is about a trip that she took to England to celebrate her 50th novel. Both of these essays can be downloaded starting the week of December 5, and they will be available through December.
